Kakao Games, made possible by Korea’s widely used chat application, Kakao Talk, announced that a global publishing contract was signed with Red Sahara Studios. The partnership will see the game developer’s Tera Frontier available in Kakao Games’ marketplace.
Tera Frontier is building off of the established MMORPG, Tera. With a solid online gaming title, the developers hope to attract old and new gamers.
Additionally, the RPG will test the graphics of your mobile phone. Jihoon Lee, Red Sahara Studios’ CEO said,
“We will show the best quality that surpasses the limits of existing mobile games with the ‘Tera’ IP game that utilizes Unreal Engine 4.”
From Tetris to Candy Crush, it appears that mobile gaming is developing with more sophisticated graphics and gameplay in mind.
Red Sahara Studios and Kakao Games partnership is somewhat familiar with a gaming industry shift. Video games like Fortnight and Diablo, which originated from dedicated gaming platforms are migrating to handheld devices. In a region like South East Asia, which is home to users that favor smartphones over computers and consoles, this could be a sign that there is a change in the winds.
