Kakao Mobility hosted its tech conference, NEXT MOBILITY: NEMO 2024, on November 13 at the Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. The conference, centered around robotics and autonomous driving, brought together industry professionals and academic experts to discuss advancements in mobility-related technologies. NEMO serves as a platform for Kakao Mobility to share its vision for the future of mobility, focusing on key technological developments shaping the sector.

The event followed Kakao’s if(kakaoAI)2024 conference last month and featured a range of discussions on autonomous systems and robotics. At NEMO, Kakao Mobility planned to strengthen its connections with both domestic and international stakeholders, collaborate with professionals, and share insights on the mobility industry’s next steps.

The NEMO 2024 conference featured 11 sessions, focusing on two core topics: robotics and autonomous driving. Kakao Mobility’s CEO, Ryu Geung-sun, opened the event with a welcome address, setting the stage for in-depth discussions on future technologies.

The robotics sessions included a presentation by Kwon Oh-sung, head of Kakao Mobility’s Future Office Robot Business TF, who introduced the company’s “BRING-ON” platform. The platform, which gained attention during the if(kakaoAI) 2024 conference last month, is an open API solution designed to optimize robot services from the user’s perspective, focusing on the seamless integration of robots with various service needs.

In the autonomous driving segment, Park Il-seok, head of Kakao Mobility’s Autonomous Driving Service and Infrastructure team, analyzed global trends in autonomous technology. He emphasized the importance of building an autonomous driving ecosystem in South Korea, noting that it requires the concerted effort of all stakeholders, including businesses, lawmakers, and policy experts. He also highlighted Kakao Mobility’s ongoing autonomous platform demonstrations in locations like Jeju, Gangnam, Daegu, and Sejong, which are central to the company’s push for wider adoption of self-driving technologies.

The conference served as a platform for both domestic and international experts to share insights and discuss the future of robotics and autonomous driving. By bringing together academic professionals and industry leaders, NEMO 2024 offered valuable networking and knowledge exchange opportunities.

Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-sun highlighted the importance of NEMO 2024, describing it as a crucial event for sharing insights on future mobility technologies and addressing industry issues.
