NC Soft (CEO Kim Taek-jin, hereinafter referred to as NC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Woongjin Thinkbig and Tutorus Labs, outlining a comprehensive business agreement for the development of “customized AI learning services for digital textbooks.”
This agreement, which was signed on October 10th at the NC R&D Center, includes a plan to develop a language model exclusively for educational services based on VARCO LLM, to release a learner-customized educational service using NC TTS, and to develop “Tutorus Math Tutor” technology. The main goal is to develop tutoring chatbot technology based on education services.
NC plans to develop an education-only LLM based on its own language model, VARCO LLM. The education-only LLM can automatically create practice questions and deliver educational content using speech-to-text and text-to-speech technology.
Under the agreement, Woongjin Thinkbig, an education technology company, and Tutorus Labs, an AI education service company, will collaborate to develop a tutoring chatbot that evaluates students’ problem-solving skills and provides educational content to students.
NC plans to leverage its accumulated capabilities in the domain language model field to launch an AI education solution customized for each user and the other two companies. With the release of the service, the three companies aim to provide students with individually tailored lessons and present a new paradigm in the education industry by helping students develop their study skills.
Lee Yeon-soo, head of NC’s NLP Center, said, “I believe that this collaborative project will become a representative example of the application of AI technology in the field of digital education. We hope our service will create a better educational environment for students by providing educational content tailored to each student.”
NC Soft, located in Pangyo Techno Valley, is a leading game company in Korea that developed Lineage and Blade & Soul. ‘VARCO LLM’ is the first artificial intelligence language model invented by a domestic game company and was released by NC Soft in August 2023.
