LG CNS, a leading IT service company, announced on Monday that it collaborated with Samjong KPMG for its smart factory security business.

LG CNS offers smart factory security systems worldwide with Big Data, AI, IoT, Cloud, and Blockchain. Meanwhile, Samjong KMPG provides smart factory consulting services for Korea’s top firms.

LG CNS and Samjong KPMG entered into collaboration on December 21 for its smart factory business. The collaboration entails a joint effort from the two companies to find potential customers in the smart factory security business. Additionally, the companies would nurture future experts and hold conferences to impart their expertise in smart factory security solutions.

A ceremony, held at Samjong’s headquarters in Southern Seoul, on Monday marked the partnership.

Smart factories consist of equipment that improves self-optimization and automation processes. Cutting edge technologies also incorporate planning, supply chain logistics, and product development.

The smart factory security business recently saw increasing relevance in the manufacturing industry, categorizing enterprise security into information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT). IT security includes office environments, while OT security targets manufacturing sites.

Additionally, OT security solutions could prevent cyberattacks, which could abruptly suspend operations of many factories. This would mean that for those in the manufacturing industry, strengthening operation technology has become imperative.

Setting Up Strategic Systems

Samjong KPMG’s smart factory security consulting division concentrates on setting up strategic and mid-to-long-term systems for its clients.

The global research firm, Markets & Markets, stated that the local smart factory market would develop to $15.3 billion in 2024 from $8.9 billion last 2019.

Bae Min, an executive in charge of LG CNS’ digital technology innovation division’s security business, said that a successful digital transition in a hyper-connected society without thorough security would become difficult. Samjong would provide smart factory security solutions that customers could rely on.

The combination of Samjong KPMG’s consulting capabilities and LG CNS’ technology would provide the best security systems services. Kim Min-soo, Samjong KPMG’s head of cybersecurity business, stated that LG CNS’s expertise would provide great synergy with KPMG’s global OT security and consulting techniques.
