Galaxy Book 5 Pro Launch: Samsung Bets Big on AI and Productivity

Samsung Electronics is set to launch its latest high-end laptop, the Galaxy Book 5 Pro, in South Korea on January 2, 2025. The laptop, unveiled three weeks ago, offers an AI-powered experience to boost user productivity. The device features Galaxy AI, which enhances tasks such as communication, content creation, and data searching, making these processes faster and more efficient.

The Galaxy Book 5 Pro is part of a new generation of laptops designed to support on-device AI operations, eliminating the need for an internet connection. This feature is set to improve the overall user experience and productivity, making the device a strong contender in the AI-enabled laptop market. Samsung’s launch comes as the company and competitors like LG Electronics prepare for the new semester with AI-enhanced laptops.

The Galaxy Book 5 Pro is available in two display sizes: a 14-inch variant priced at KRW 1,768,000 ($1,200) and a 16-inch version priced at KRW 2,458,000 ($1,600). Both models come in stylish grey and silver colors, offering consumers a choice that suits their preferences. Samsung has also reduced the prices of some variants compared to the previous Galaxy Book 4 Pro, with the 16-inch version now priced KRW 132,000 ($125) less than its predecessor, despite offering similar specifications.

Powered by Intel’s Core Ultra Processor Series 2 (Lunar Lake), the Galaxy Book 5 Pro offers impressive performance with its Neural Processing Unit (NPU), capable of executing 47 trillion operations per second. This enables seamless execution of AI-driven tasks, ensuring smooth performance for users. Additionally, the laptop introduces a unique AI Select feature, allowing users to easily select images or text from the screen and search for relevant information on the internet without typing search terms. Samsung also plans to roll out Microsoft Copilot+ PC features through a future update, further enhancing its AI capabilities.

For those interested in the 2-in-1 experience, the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360, which was initially available only online, will now be sold in offline stores starting January 2. Samsung has also launched an attractive promotion for early adopters. Customers who purchase the Galaxy Book 5 Pro or Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 between January 2 and 16 will receive a free MS Office Home 2024 suite, making the laptops even more appealing to professionals and students.

In addition to the free MS Office suite, Samsung is offering extra perks, including discounts on Galaxy Buds 3 and exclusive items like Starbucks laptop pouches. Samsung also introduced a “Compensation by Changing to AI” promotion from January 2 to March 31, offering customers additional compensation when they trade in their old laptops or tablets for the new Galaxy Book 5 Pro. With these promotions, Samsung aims to attract a wide range of customers as they prepare for the new semester and enhance their productivity with AI-powered tools.
