It is predicted that there will be 8 million AI speakers in households across South Korea by next year.
According to ‘2019 Digital Media & Marketing Forecast’, published by KT Group’s Digital Media Lab(Nas Media) on the 23rd, there will be an increase in IoT AT home speakers.
“As Google Home is entering South Korean markets, competition between businesses to get the upper hand is accelerating.” said Nas Media.
Since SK Telecom introduced ‘Nugu‘ (“who” in Korean) for the first time in September of 2016, there have been many products such as KT’s ‘Giga Genie‘, Naver’s ‘Wave‘, and Kakao’s ‘Kakao Mini‘ racing against each other.
‘Google Home‘ and ‘Google HomeMini‘, released in September, are also trying to expand user adoption amid aggressive marketing by Korean retailers.
Notably, it is predicted that competition will be fierce in children’s content and voice shopping services. The global consulting firm OC&C Strategy Consultant predicted that the global voice shopping market will grow 20 times from the current 2 billion dollars to 40 billion dollars by 2022.
