Naver Cloud Platform gets SaaS Certification

Korea’s leading tech giant, comparable to Google, Naver, has announced that their Naver Cloud Platform, has acquired an SaaS (software as a service) certification for the first time in Korea.

Back in the day, a company’s IT department did most of the tech heavy lifting. These day, with the development of cloud computing and its plug in play nature, this technology is more accessible to the non-tech savvy. This ushers in security concerns. Companies no longer opt to have complete sovereignty over their information for cost savings and convenience.

In a move to defend against data breaches, the Korean Internet and Security Agency (KISA) is tasked with making sure that for profit cloud solutions companies that seek business from public institutions, meet a permissible standard for data security. Han Sang-young, the cloud’s service leader, stated, “Many companies that are trying to provide SaaS services to public institutions are having difficulties in obtaining SaaS security certification.”

The acquisition of a KISA issued SaaS certificate will open the doors for Naver Cloud Platform to be a cloud solutions provider for certain government organizations.
